SUSTAINABILITY

Ocean waste should be worn - not wasted

The idea behind Moonah is to create high-quality and eco-friendly yoga wear both ethically and sustainably.
Unfortunately, every year, millions of tons of plastics end up in the oceans, polluting our waters, harming marine life - like sea turtles, dolphins, and whales - and our planet.
But a problem can be turned into a solution.
ECONYL® is a regenerated nylon made by recovering nylon waste - such as fishing nets from the oceans and aquaculture, fabric scraps from mills and carpets destined for landfill – and turning it into virgin quality nylon yarn.

Design From Finland Award

Moonah Wear has proudly been awarded the Design from Finland mark. The Design from Finland mark of the Association for Finnish Work can be awarded to a product, product group or service that strongly represents Finnish design competence.

The mark indicates that the company has invested in professional design and achieved business advantages through design.

Products and services bearing the Design from Finland mark have been designed in Finland in a professional, responsible and user-oriented manner. Companies with this award are transparent about their products and services’ production chain and country of origin.

ECO FRIENDLY YOGA WEAR

As sustainability is one of our fundamental values as a brand, we have opted to use sustainable materials for our production. We use ECONYL®  for our yoga clothing and organic cotton for our t-shirts. The ecological cotton we use is GOTS certified. In addition to using eco friendly materials, we also wanted to make sure our production chain is as short as possible. This is why we have decided to both produce and source all our items in Europe.

With having our production in Europe we can guarantee fair salaries and fair working conditions for the textile workers. It significally also reduces the transportation distances, resulting in lower CO2 emissions. The packaging we use to send out your Moonah Wear in - you guessed it- is made out of 100% recycled plastic. All this might cost a little more than the conventional options - but we believe that everything is energy and that every choice counts.

Conscious choices throughout the way

We produce all our designs in small quantities to avoid overstock. We design our clothing carefully and create timeless designs that will hopefully last for a very long time. We truly hope you will love your Moonah's and want you to be happy with your purchase. Moonah Wear is more than yoga clothing, as our mission is to weave a network of aligned Moon Babes that love our planet, themselves and each other. Together we rise.

By using local European partners, we can minimize transport distances and CO2 emissions.

Moonah Wear: Our Journey to Creating a Sustainable Fashion Brand

Moonah Wear was founded as a small, sustainable brand created out of passion and dedication, with its origins rooted in a side hustle funded by personal savings. Despite the excitement of building a new brand from scratch, the journey has not been without its challenges. In a highly competitive textile industry where many brands outsource their production to Asia, we take pride in our commitment to producing all our garments in Europe.

As we strive to build a brand with a transparent and sustainable ethos, we understand that our pricing may seem high when compared to fast fashion brands. However, we want to take the time to share our practices, shed light on our values, and explain why we believe in investing in sustainable fashion. Even if you cannot currently afford to purchase our items, your support and encouragement through following and liking our journey means the world to us, and helps us continue on this path. Join us as we continue to pursue our passion for creating beautiful and sustainable fashion.
